Learning Resources: overview

About Learning Resources Help

A Learning Resource is a collection of shared documents, links to websites, and special folders such as collaborative areas or handing-in points, that relate to a particular area of study. Typically a member of staff will create Learning Resources for modules they are teaching. For example a Geography teacher might create Learning Resources called Volcanoes and Rivers.

Staff Subject Areas should be set up before Learning Resources as members of staff must be added to Staff Subject Areas before they can set up Learning Resources.

A Learning Resource can be made available to groups of users and owners. Each Learning Resource must have at least one owner who has read/write access to it (in order to add content to it), for example a member of staff.

Users of a Learning Resource have read-only or write-only access.

Users who are members of the relevant group(s) can access the contents of a Learning Resource from the Learning Resources page or from RM Explorer. The Learning Resource contains a Shared Documents area, and a Shared Links area that contains links to web pages.

From the desktop, choose the Picture of the Learning Resources icon Learning Resources icon. The Learning Resources are displayed. The pane on the far right provides a quick way of viewing certain properties of a selected Learning Resource.
